HOW TO DO A CORRECT FORWARD ROLL

In this week we have done forward rolls in our PE class. Forward rolls are one of the first things our pupils will learn in gymnastics because it is a basic form that is used in many gymnastic moves.

STEPS

  1. Balance on the balls of your feet in a squat position.
  2. Hold your arms in front of you to help your balance.
  3. Put your hands on the mate. Put your chin near your neck.
  4. Tuck your head in and start to roll forward.
  5. Roll slowly. Imagine your head as the center ofa wheel and your body rolling around this central point. Always you must protect your neck.
  6. For beginners, you may want to start on a slope. It will be easier going down hill
